Michaela Japec is a studio art and design teacher. She is passionate about art, art pedagogy, and teaching communication through art. In 2020, Japec joined her current school, Hayfield Secondary School as a full time middle school art teacher. As a middle school teacher Japec taught Fundamentals of Art, and 3D Art Exploration. With the onset of Covid-19, Japec gained a full year of virtual teaching, and concurrent teaching experience. For the 2021-2022 school year Japec was asked to take on the upper level high school studio art courses. At the high school level, she teaches Studio Art and Design 1, 2, 3, 4 and AP Drawing. Michaela Japec prioritizes building a welcoming classroom climate and developing positive relationships with all of her students.
